With the SimTX desktop app[edit | edit source]
The app connects your SDR program through a bridge on your own computer:
- In the Receive tab, choose Where you listen: one of your stations, a public station, or Ad-hoc.
- Under Tuning, set the Center frequency and the Sample rate (Hz).
- Press Start RX. The Bridge section shows the address to use, by default
127.0.0.1and rtl_tcp port1234. - In SDR++, choose the RTL-TCP source and enter that address and port.
SimTX Guide/Receiving describes every receive setting.
Receiving with RTL-TCP[edit | edit source]
It is very to receive your and other people signal with RTL-TCP.
Most of SDR applications support RTL-TCP, Took SDR++ as example:

Q&A[edit | edit source]
Q: What sample rate should I use?[edit | edit source]
- 250KHz (0.25MSPS) for receiving Shortwave and lower band
- 1.024MSPS (or higher) for receiving FM, wide signal
Q: I don't see anything?[edit | edit source]
- Make sure you type in the right information
- Make sure you are tuned in the right frequency
- Try using manual gain or RTL-TCP if you are on higher band
Q: What band should I receive?[edit | edit source]
- Try 60m SW band (4700 - 5100KHz)
- or FM band (87.5 - 108MHz and recommend using RTL-AGC / Manual gain)
Q: I don't see the port box.[edit | edit source]
- Try "argon.simtx.net:1240"
