Okay, there have been some people that would like to use SDR Console with Simtx, but cant figure out how to do so since SDR Console is more complicated then most SDR programs out there. Ill try to make this page as simple and straight forward as possible since i don't want it to seem more complicated then it has to be..

This community guide connects SDR Console to a SimTX-compatible RTL TCP receiver endpoint. It is an alternative receiver setup, not the transmitter app. For a first transmission, start with Getting Started.

Before starting

  • Install SDR Console.
  • Obtain a currently available RTL TCP endpoint and port from the server operator. A transmitter control port is not interchangeable with a receiver port.
  • The original illustration below uses an older address and port. Keep its menu sequence, but use the endpoint supplied for your current server.

Add the receiver definition

  1. Open the Select Radio window and choose Definitions....
  2. In Radio Definitions, choose Search > RTL Dongle > TCP.
  3. In RTL SDR Definitions, press Add.
  4. Enter the receiver address and port. Use a descriptive model name such as simtx. The illustration uses the R820T gain selection.
  5. Save the definition, return to Select Radio, and select it.
  6. Set Bandwidth to 250 kHz for the illustrated setup, then start reception.

Check reception

Tune to the wanted station and choose the corresponding mode, such as AM or USB. If no signal is heard, confirm the endpoint is online and supports this connection before changing antenna or audio settings. Modulation Modes explains receiver mode matching; Troubleshooting covers general signal checks.

The SDR Console RTL TCP documentation describes the definition fields in more detail.
