SYNK Radio is an independent radio station based in the West Midlands, England. Founded and managed by a 17-year-old developer and systems administrator named Blake, the project delivers non-stop music streaming designed for general listeners, virtual truckers, sim racers, and the wider online gaming community. The station transmits over SimTX on 103.0 MHz FM alongside its primary online stream.
History and Operation
SYNK Radio was created as a standalone audio project to provide an uninterrupted rotation of electronic, bass-heavy, and underground tracks. The station is operated entirely out of the West Midlands, where the technical infrastructure, server maintenance, playout automation, and stream routing are managed directly by Blake.
The station currently runs without active live DJs or on-air presenters. Instead, it uses a fully automated playout system that keeps a continuous stream of music playing twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, without breaks for talk segments or commercial advertisements.
Transmission and SimTX
In addition to its digital internet stream, SYNK Radio broadcasts on the SimTX network. It operates on the allocated frequency of 103.0 MHz FM, allowing virtual simulation drivers and radio enthusiasts using the SimTX platform to tune into the live broadcast directly through in-game or simulated FM tuners.
Technical Platform
The technical setup behind SYNK Radio consists of bespoke software tools and third-party integrations:
- Web Stream: The main broadcast is served directly through the official website in high quality, without requiring accounts or third-party players.
- SimTX Relaying: Direct audio feed connection to the SimTX 103.0 MHz FM transmission network.
- SYNK Radio API: A public application programming interface built to serve live metadata, track key information, and song lyrics for external developers.
- Discord Integration: Dedicated bot software routes the audio stream into community Discord servers, enabling listeners to hear the station across voice channels.
Music Output
The playlist focus is built around sustained, high-energy background audio for gaming, work, and everyday listening. The regular rotation consists of:
- Dance and electronic club tracks
- Drum and bass
- UK and international rap
- Independent and underground electronic releases
